Burton Cummings Rockers took on the Valley Gardens team in a much anticipated rematch game to see who would head to the city finals. Throughout the season Valley Garndens ended up as the number one team in the city with only 3 losses ( two to BC ). The last time BC and VG met up BC lost the match 3-1.
The crowd participation was crazy, horns, drums, bells, clappers and foot stomping so loud the players could barely hear the coaches. BC opened up the scoring in the first period with a late goal by an amazing skater in defencemen D Ledoux. Going into the second period early on Ledoux advanced up from his own end and drove another goal into the top right hand side of the VG net. VG came tearing back with a vegence and after an intial save, reboud, save rebound they snuck one in the BC net. The BC defense poured on big time and in the rest of the game VG only got another 3 shots on net, all stopped stone cold by the BC goalie. At one point BC played a man down for 6 minutes and at one point was two men down. Still nothing could get passed the defence. The third period Ledoux set up a forward with a perfect pass right in front of the net from deep in the corner. Another goal 4 minutes later by Ledoux sealed the game and the BC victory 4-1 over the VG team.
BC now must wait as the B side plays itself out to see who will be going into a best of 3 championship round starting Sunday 330PM at the WK arena.
If you like loud, free amateur hockey... you wont find a better place in the city for a game.
