With the mandatory use of winter tires in a couple of provinces , Manitoba excluded but I believe considering it . What do you use on your car and why , I use all season and have really never had a huge problem . Don't do much highway driving in winter so I never have had the need to go to winter tires

yeah alot of people make the mistake of thinking winter tires are so that it can get you out of the ditch and such... nope. They are to stop you from ever getting into the ditch, or that accident. I want winter tires, but can not afford them. Anyone willing to buy me some winter tires and some rims.. please step up

Well if Manitoba wants to make winter tires mandatory then the provincial government can pay for them!

I have a set of winter tires, but will leave them off this winter as I am not driving much. Will try to keep the trips to days with decent road conditions.

When I was driving a lot, it was usually SUVs and pick up trucks that I noticed flying off the road while I came to a safe stop. Given the expense to buy and maintain such vehicles, it's difficult to understand why their owners would want to go cheap on such an important safety enhancement.

have always used winter tires, may be a pain to have them put on but they have saved my life a few times in really ugly weather so won't go without them.

Best to buy a separate set of tires w/rims for your snow tires. This of course assumes some peeps change the tires only...

I've considered buying a beater. Not for winter. For the too many bozo drivers in this city. Get in my way by doing something STUPID -- maybe I smack ya, a little.

rates should be based on if you want an option or not. you should never be forced to havea safety device.

Those winter tires are there to make a car handle safer as well as stopping 37% quicker.
I run my car with all seasons, and traction is just horrible! Any small car with winter tires leave me behind.
I wish I could afford the $700 for tires and rims!

In a couple of years with global warming , hopefully we all won't need winter tires! That will be a lot better for all of us, especially the women who really cannot handle snow or ice on the roads!
Come to think of it, it would be better if women stayed off the roads, and had their husbands drive them to the stores!

I agree 100%.

Full coverage: $2000/year

Remove Immobilizer (no coverage for stolen vehicle): $1500 year

Remove Airbags (no coverage for injury from flying through windshield): $1000/year

Remove Seatbelts (no coverage for injury from bouncing around car): $500/year

Remove tires (no coverage for tow truck driving you all over town): $100/year

Bus Pass: $99.95/year Very Happy.

Michelin Arctic Alpin, on a second set of rims. If you plan on keeping your car for more than 5 years, then it doesn't cost any more in the long run because each set of times is used half as much, so they will not need to be replaced as quickly. Winter tires make a huge difference on cold or icy roads.

Those SUVs that you see in the ditch are idiots who overestimate their AWD, and I'll guarantee that just about none of them have winter tires.
