Is it just me or does it seem like boxing day sales have become pretty lame?

I remember standing in line at 5am to get that electronic component for 75% off.

Now what ? Save $150 off a TV that you can probably get cheaper next month?

No thanks, othing that piques my interest.

What I hoping for was a good deal on a 720p 50"plasma. Currently they are around $850-$950. I was hoping someone would have one advertised for $550-$600. That I would stand in line for. Instead, I'll wait for a few months for the price to drop to where I want to buy.

not only that... but the BIG retailers have almost everything for sale online at 11PM ( midnight ontario time) so you dont even need to stand in line.

I used to love boxing day shopping when essentially all the crap that did not sell during Christmas was very very deeply discounted. Now, when they actually bring stuff in? meh...

Hey GC, are ya gonna have us all over for dinner once you get your new cookware?

We did a big reno project this fall, and now the wife wants a TV in the living room, she also has her eye on a chair she saw at Urban Barn. Since we know we are getting Urban Barn GCs then we may end up there to see if we can get a deal on the chair. If not, then Saturday is a sleep day. Mmmmmm....sleep.

I was looking online and really didn't see many great deals. I will avoid the stores on Saturday. Anyone find anything online?

The 720p Plasma's that are still around are pushing on 2yr old technology now. The picture on the newer models (ie. Samsung 5 and 6 series) is much improved from the older models. You can pick up a nice 1080p plasma for 900-1k now, worth it imho to get current tech rather than a model that is severely long in the tooth.

Just my 2 cents.

GC you have to weigh the benefit of a chef with a very antaginistic attitude (she don't clean da dishes!) lol, and a perfectly good dinner cooked up by your self!
After MizP cooked at my house I had to count the hand rolled cigar inventory! lol

My Dad scored a digital SLR camera today on sale. I haven't been out shopping on Boxing Day in years. Whatever I want, I can't really justify buying just yet.

Who scored some cool loot on sale today? Lenny, back from shopping?

If I had the money, I'd be out trying to score a second Samsung Syncmaster P2250 monitor... just got one for Christmas and would love another one so I could run this Linux box dual-headed!

I arrived at Future Shop around 4:45 AM, and was lucky enough to walk out with a new Wireless router, a new Deskjet Printer/Scanner/Copier, 2010 anti-virus software, stereo headphones, and printing accessories for only $120. I saved over $180!! Well worth the headache of waiting in the cold for over an hour! Very Happy

Well, I didn't see any sales that made me want to get up early and stand in line (been there done that)

My parents went to Future Shop and got a deal on a new computer.

My wife and I went to Urban Barn and custom ordered a chair for the living room. 15% off plus the gift cards we got at christmas made it a pretty good deal. But we're waiting 5-9 weeks for it!

St Norberter- what did you spend on the chair? Is it a modern style? Was less than $799?
I have 5 styles at $799 and delivery in 2-4 weeks, if the fabric is available! And made in Winnipeg!

This is the chair we ordered ( different fabric though):

http://www.urbanbarn.com/products/Living-Room/Livingroom-Chairs/globe-chair/455

And no, it wasn't less than $799. Wink

You sell furniture? We'll be looking for a leather recliner ( not rocker recliner) in a couple months.

rosen manufactures and sells custom furniture.

Now you owe me ten percent of all sales in 2010 rosen. You're welcome.
