If any of his patients had status, would he not have billed DIANA??

I believe the province has switched it up to accept the billing and pass it on, no?

There is no way this doctor can possibly be seeing on average 70 patients ( using the 31.75 bill amount) day in and day out 365 days per year and doing a good job for their health. in a 12 hour day working non stop that is 10.2 minutes per patient. No food breaks, no bathroom breaks, no anything

Someone needs to audit this area.

Years ago, similar information was released about a local gastroe*&^, gastro$%^, stomach doctor, and there was a great outcry. That guy ran 2 clinics, was the best in the City, had national recognition, but they ragged on the amount of his billings, so, whats the difference?

specialist working overtime could conceivably make 800K. a regular doctor? The Math does not even come close to adding up

I'd say the math is skewed as well. That said I am in and out of my doctor's office on average in about five minutes.

If a doctor has multiple treatment rooms he can very quickly get through many patients per hour. Don't forget nurses and other medical staff can and will do much of the necessary work leading up to the actual consult.

The billable revenue a doctor earns also covers all costs associated with his practise including nurses/receptionists, overhead, rent, etc...

"The billable revenue a doctor earns also covers all costs associated with his practise including nurses/receptionists, overhead, rent, etc..."

Not disagreeing with that at all.

What I am saying that even if he is billing the MOST he can bill that means he is seeing 70 patients a day. Day in, Day out 365 days a year.

If we use the lower amount he is seeing 99 patients a day. in a 12 hour period that is one patient every 7.2 minutes. no breaks.

its just not reasonably possible.

What is more likely is that he is seeing those 70 patients per day. Charging the over 10 minute expense for every single one and spending less then 5 minutes with each one.

We have all been to the doctor. we know how fast they clear us out of there.

I posted the document that lists physician salaries (governement annual report) in another thread where I mentioned that Manitoba docs are overpaid. The key to understanding their earnings is the physicians manual:
http://www.gov.mb.ca/health/manual/index.html
What's not ptinted in there but what the docs love talking about is how to pick the services that make the most money for the least effort. They spend considerably more time on learning how to maximize earning than on upgrading their skills.

well...i like my doctor...he actually seems quite good, and knowledgeable. He was a nurse before he became a doctor, so learned quite a bit.

it did seem a bit telling though when, the first time i met him, he kept going on about his dream to go be a doctor in the US for the "big bucks"

he's still here (4 years later)...so i don't know if he's just saving up, or decided not to go

but it made me wonder how poorly docs get paid here that they think being a US doc would be so much better?

they are not paid poorly at all
they are somewhat more shielded from malpractice
