5 'quick care' clinics to open in 2011

Total and complete bullsh1t. These WRHA Access centres were started by the WRHA. Called Access Centres, three exist already while a fourth is about to be constructed and a fifth is in the design stages.

The nads on this government! Don't they have any shame?

Can't wait for them to fall from power...for a variety of reasons.

We should start a new thread on swing ridings. This is where all the real action will be. Everything else is window dressing.

The WRHA is not governened by the NDP, so I fail to understand this thread.

Where are you struggling?

The province announced their new "more chickens in every pot" medical strategy by claiming they will "open" five quick-care clinics "next year".

These clinics exist already. Two WRHA Access Centres opened last year at 650 Main Street and 755 Portage. A third is about to get built (Keewatin). The fourth is the Access River East clinic where the NDP held their press conference and a fifth is in the design stages in St. James, on the grounds of the Grace Hospital.

These WRHA Access Centres are community based clinics that provide walk-in access to patients for their medical, dental and social needs.

How is this NEW? What is different about selinger's promise that is not already available through these facilities?

And please tell me evil troll that you are not so naive as to believe the province does not exert significant pressure on the WRHA. They do report to the health minister ya know. In fact the current WRHA ceo was most recently a deputy minister in the current health ministry...

Here's my concern.
It's with this part of the story....

The clinics will be open for extended hours, and will be staffed by nurse practitioners who can prescribe drugs and perform other duties normally done by physicians.
Selinger said the clinics, along with new efficiencies in the way family doctors schedule appointments, will free up family doctors to see more patients.
"We think by organizing services better we can give more access to existing doctors for people that don't have access now. That's why we talked about the role of rapid access. That allows the same doctor to see more patients," Selinger told CBC News.

Let me see if I get this straight....

I will now get to see a Nurse Practicing (to be a doctor) so that doctors can see more patients.

Who will assess the difference between which I will be treated with... a nurse or a doctor?

fri ck them if they think that being assessed by a nurse is an improvement in care...as it is the exact opposite.

Might as well stay home and put the bandage on yourself or use google to figure out what's wrong with you as it'll be the same as you get with Selingerski's health care system.

Everytime I hear Selinger speak, he reminds me of a male version of Judy, lots of talk about nothing.
his favorite phrase "due diligence"
