Don't laugh! I got a flyer route a few months ago to force me to stay active and get rid of my not-sexy one-pack. Been using my daughter's wagon all summer, and now that it's snowed that's not going to be an option!

Does anyone know where I can buy those shoulder slung canvas sacks for delivering papers? I think I contacted the Free Press some time ago and they invited me to look elsewhere (I think they only give them to real paperboys!)

If anyone even has any in their crawlspace/attic/basement, I'll be willing to pay just above bottom dollar for them! Smile

Go down to the fabric store and spend $3 dollars on a yard of canvas, use your scissors to cut the bag and straps and get your wife/girlfriend/daughter/ yourself , to do some sewing!

I used to deliver papers and I saved a few (for no real reason). When I was a paperboy, I used to get a new bag for free upon request. I have an extra if you want it.

Should you ever feel the need to get in touch with your inner cheap Kraut/Scot or upcycling ecohippie, you could probably fab one up quickly with a horizontal pillow case, some steel rings, web mesh for handles, and some re-inforcement at the seams.

Really, do tell!

I've made a number of upcycled grocery bags out of *vintage* pillow cases, and haven't had any problems, even after hauling 4L's of milk and cans around in them for years.

There's not way you could use a pillow case to carry the amount of weight needed for delivering flyers. They're quite huge. I bought a utility cart that holds (apparently) 330 lbs, and the weight wrecked it 3 minutes in to my route!

I did a while back. Apparently it's the Free Press that puts these out (Canstar), and they only give bags out to people who deliver the actual paper. (WFP)

Dang, yo. I just finally got fliers to my door for the first time yesterday, and they weighed about as much as the Yellow Pages. I'm sorry I ever suggested a pillow case. That was NOT what I was expecting. I've never seen so many fliers, all at once before. My husband said "Did they leave a kitchen sink in the mailbox too?"

yeah it was actually two different deliveries yesterday.

It gets a little bit worse for the Boxing Dale sale ones.

depends which set of flyers but if you are also not getting the free paper.. call them because they are one chunk of the flyers.
