Hey Pixies fans: here comes your band.

The reunited Boston band will bring its Doolittle Tour to the Centennial Concert Hall on April 27, playing its entire 1989 album, Doolittle, in its entirety, along with a collection of B-sides associated with the release. Ticket information wasn’t immediately available, but according to the press release announcing the Canadian tour, a limited number of pre-sale tickets will be available Friday on the band’s website.

An opening act wasn’t named, but the concert will feature a screening of the 1929 surrealist film, Un Chien Andalou, by Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel that provided the inspiration for the song Debaser, the first track on Doolittle.

The Pixies last played the city in April 2004 when they initially reunited. The city was supposed to be their first reunion show, but turned out to be their second after a gig in Minneapolis.

The influential indie-rock quartet released five albums between 1987 and 1991 before an acrimonious split. Since reuniting they have recorded one new song, Bam Thwok, and released two DVD documentaries, a live acoustic DVD and a box set along with live recordings of many of their concerts.

Ticket prices haven’t been announced, but based on one Ticketmaster listing online, they could end up costing between $50 and $60 — assuming you get your hands on them before the scalpers.

We snagged 8 tickets yesterday and couldn't be happier!

In 2004 we "had" to road trip to Saskatoon to catch the Pixies since the Winnipeg show had sold out in seconds. But being front row centre for that show and having Kim Deal exchange words with me as they walked out made the trip far more memorable than the high probability of sitting in the balcony stands at the back of the Walker.

I wonder why they didn't try to play the MTS Centre concert bowl. That's good for about 4000 people or so.

I heard Katy Perry also sold out.

apparently they were releasing tickets in "batches" to Katy Perry for some bizarre reason. So some people who tried like 10 minutes in, it was "sold out" but 30 minutes and so on later more tickets "appeared"

Well I did the 'refresh', 'refresh', 'refresh' for Katy Perry tickets at 10am. Got four (wife, daughter and two friends) in 100 section. So it's two concerts so far this year. Wonder what the total for the year will end up being.

Two years ago, I thought Katy Perry would fade away, just like many other pop artists, like Christina Aguilera. I can't say that I've actually listened to an entire Perry song, though.

I do about 40 a year, but I am always trying to cut back. I've seen a lot of artists who I won't see again, but I am willing to take a chance just in case I really enjoy the show. Tonight, I skipped the Loudon Wainwright III show due to being exhausted from shoveling snow.

I don't go to that many ( usually can count on one hand the number I see every year); and I usually regret not going to a few. Missed going to Iron Maiden the last couple times. Wished I had seen the cult when they came. But the last ( and one of the best) I have been to was when Robert Cray played the Garrick - awesome.

Saw Cray open for Clapton. Never cared for him. Buddy Guy, on the other hand, was awesome, more my style. Cray is one of the few blues guys to get on rock radio back in the 80s.

Second Pixies show announced

Didn’t get tickets for the Pixies concert before they sold out last week? Good news; you’ve got another chance.

The legendary alt-rockers have added a second show on April 26 at Centennial Concert Hall.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 4 at Ticketmaster for $35 and $55 plus fees. Get ’em quick; their April 27 gig sold out on the first day.

I got pre-sale tickets through pixiesmusic.com and my tickets say that ours are all General Admission. Doooes that mean "floor" seats at the Concert Hall? Because I assumed that all tickets were GA.
