Life was a hell of a lot better in Canada, before we got the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, back in 1982.

Before the Charter, minority groups knew their place in line and kept their mouths shut.

After the Charter, all these minority groups want their "rights" and constantly whine and complain about the Canadian society's norms and mores that have served the rest of us just fine all these decades, thank you very much.

Canadians are sick to death of people crying for their rights" that are really intended to infringe on the Canadian lifestyle and culture.

Don't move here if you want your "rights." Stay in your brutal dictatorship country and enjoy the type of life that doesn't teach music, keeps boys in girls separate for phys. ed. and lets you run around with knives in school. We don't want you here.

It should be obvious that life was just fine until the Charter came along. Now, we are seeing how it is bearing fruit. Just look at the groups that don't want their kids in music and in co-ed phys. ed. When will this crap stop?

Of course, there are many examples prior and there will be many more, until we scrap the Charter and replace it with something more in tune with the views of the majority of Canadians.

And while we're at it, we should scrap the joke that is the Human Rights Commission. Just look at how they destroyed the business of publisher Ezra Levant.

Anytime government gets involved with "rights," they seem to mess things up for the rest of us.

It's pretty obvious that it wasn't for everyone. Which is the precise reason for the charter in the first place. When you see these items on a national and international scale you'll begin to realize why this charter is important. Or not. Whatever.

Life was fine before the Charter.

The charter needs to include the words "within reason". It's nice when we can accommodate people with little trouble and cost. It creates problems when forced to accommodate people for no good reason.

Some might say we should accommodate everyone. Like that one person that got a song banned because she and she alone did not like one word?

I don't think Canadians want that literal a charter.

Lawyers love arguing over wording like "within reason."

Call me kook, but I preferred the old days before the Charter.

The British PM is now saying that multiculturalism in the UK has been a failure. Perhaps that topic is for another thread, although I do see some linkage between the two. Oh, yeah, life was just fine in Canada before Trudeau's multiculturalism. How many billions have we wasted on that?

Accommodation under another act has the words 'up to the point of undue hardship' or something like it.

Lol. The UK is mad because they're getting pwned in the courts over human rights violations as they share their judicial process on human rights with france (I think it's france).

They attempted to change their legal system to get out of getting pwned by human rights judges but they just bound their hands further.

Canada's Charter of Rights is probably the greatest protection in the World for Human Rights.
Pierre Elliot Trudeau's masterpiece, and I used to carry a copy around with me, and marvelled at the protection it affords every one.
I particulrly love it as I see in it protection of minority rights, without regard to sex, colour, sexual preferance.
The US says they are the greatest democracy in the world, yet I have a clear recollection that if you were of colour you had no rights in the South, and the US army had to be called in to get 9 black students enrolled in a High School on Alabama only 35 years ago!
