Its a public event and getting the word out to as many people as possible is a good thing. This aint like selling something or advertising a band or anything.

yeah, and posting by non-members isn't allowed (some forums do allow that).

So I have not problem with that.

Perhaps LRB will begin participating in some discussions.

Whatever. There are plenty of places to advertise this kind of stuff for free.

I just think it's tacky to join a group for only one self-serving reason.

That's just my opinion.

I am shocked and dismayed that people on this forum would attack a non-profit organization that supports all children and learning about history.
The Ad is "Tacky" as that is what attracts attention online... if it is Ugly I am thrilled because it got you looking!

**Back on Topic--

The event is free and is in Winnipeg!
Lord Roberts School is also trying to locate people who are willing to share information such as images and historical facts on the area for the last 100 years. Please contact the school if you are willing to share data.

yeah LRB...don't get too upset...

we're a forum of about 30 ACTIVE members, and another 30-40 who pop in now and then.

Plus, who knows how many people just read the forum and never post.

There's always going to be at least one grumpy person in the group (in our case, we have a few...and not just by name)

Welcome to the forum...and the post about LR School.

ON TOPIC
There are many resources for information from 100 years ago, but a couple that many don't think about, is the Construction Association, as they have many plans & files of buildings from that era.
and the City Planning office...would probably have much of that in their archives as well.

Not sure why you would be shocked and dismayed. Lots of folks take shots at non-profits. You should see us get going about school divisions.

Your explanation in the quoted post went a long way to answer the obvious questions.

BTW, many of us here spend a lot of time supporting children, but that doesn't mean we can't b1tch about it.

I'm not complaining. I'm just sayin' that I think people that come out to post one ad are tacky. I like to think of them as spammers.

Perhaps posting it in the proper section would have made it come off differently.

And welcome LRB100. Hope you stick around and I guess we'll see. Smile

"Andrea" was a poster in the old Dark Side that made up very elaborate posters and put them in as just 'an interested party' for the Park Theatre.

It kinda' came out that she was an employee of the joint that was going to all these sites and posing as someone 'she' wasn't. Tacky.

Dont remember that. But I wonder.. WHY POSE?

shiat especially on the darkside a "art minded" place something like that would be good no?

"She" was getting around having to pay for advertising on the site.

With a warm welcome, it makes a person want to participate within a community; however becoming hostile to a "Newbie" is not a great way of starting a relationship.
Now if this post was in the wrong catagory (which I believe it is not as it is an "EVENT") Define to me what area it belongs in on this site. If I am correct, please stop Hi-jacking the thread and ---
Stay on TOPIC!
Do any of you live in the FortRouge Area, and if so would you like to participate in this event?

yeah...what dean said.

threadjacking is pretty much the norm here.

expect at some point, "somebody" to start comparing lord selkirk school with the CHRM...and how much cheaper it will be to attend the event.

Or that the Jets will be playing at Lord Selkirk school before the end of the season.

Very Happy

Nothing wrong with wandering topics. Keeps the topic front and centre so more people will see it and read it.
