Does the city think they're going to maintain normal downtown traffic today? Close down P and M and the WPS can hold on tight.

Access to hospitals? Yeah right.

I'm putting out the call for the true jets fans and true winnipegers to shut down Portage and Main.

My schedule today,

Get off the couch and get dressed (next)
Breakfast at the nook (9am)
Outside MTS center for announcement (10am-ish)
Crack champagne outside MTS (whenever that rat gary bettman shows his face and our lord and saviour Mark Chipman and David Thomson announce)
NEXT STOP PORTAGE AND MAIN!!!!!!!

SHUT IT DOWN!!!

Personally...I think they should arrest anyone who steps on the road over there.
ONE car gets delayed because some idiot thinks they have a "right" to be there...just arrest them.

The city has arranged for a place to celebrate the NHL return. They have put money & resources together to make it a grand affair.

With any luck...there will be enough people arrested/fined to pay for the whole thing.

I guess we could have avoided the whole affair if some crank would have run over Bobby Hull while he was standing at Portage and Main 37 years ago. Don't wet your pants anyway - the event is at the Forks. Don't kid yourself if you don't think people won't converge at P & M given the association referred.

Wasnt that the attitude of the strikers of the general strike?

PandM is a historical spot for so many reasons, why insist on traffic as normal today?

There were tens and tens of thousands at Portage and Main AND the forks during the save the jets rallies of 1995, why not respond the same at both?

If we can shut it down for some bozo in a santa suit and all the hydro floats to parade down through it, we can shut it down for this parade coming today, no?

For those old enough to remember the Bobby Hull signing, there were no barricades at Portage & Main at that time. As for the man in the red suit, that parade happens on a weekend, not during the work week. The Forks is a much more logical place as the space is much bigger and can accommodate the people as well as the celebration. I personally won't be there, have better things to do, really don't give a crap as this will not be a ticket that I will spend my money on. I work too hard to fathom paying the kind of prices to have to sit beside some 300 pounder in a seat that was meant to fit a 125 pound kid to cheer on a bunch of players who may or may not want to be in Winnipeg. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge NHL fan, original 6'r Red Wings fan but am also a realist when it comes to my money.

I was there at Portage and Main, and it wasn't in the middle of the road, it was on the North east corner and everything went OK.
Portage and Main is closed right now!
The latest report is that 12 young men have removed all of Gary Bettman's clothing taped his hands and feet and mouth and have him dangling from the Bank of Montreal building at Portage and Main.

There is likely to be a sale and/ or rental of 35 homes or apartments to the players, and coaches.
They will be buying furnishings, renting , buying or leasing cars, kids clothes if they bring their family here.
Lots of benefits to the local community!
