1 Papa John's on Thu Aug 04, 2011 11:46 am

Driving on Portage just west of Moray I noticed a banner for Papa John's Pizza "coming soon". Anyone having any info on when they'll be opening? Their commercials make their pizza sound great but I guess that's the job of a commercial, never eaten at the chain myself.

Papa John's in the US is awesome!!!

Assuming it's the same chain...they should be a great new addition.
They are a bit pricier than say 222222222222...but quality is higher too.

They were also the first chain in New Jersey (maybe the whole US?) to offer online ordering...which I took advantage of quite often.

Meh. Seems like typical chain pizza type place. I'll definitely give it a try though. Latley I've been addicted to Diana's and royal pizza.

My two favourite pizza joints are Santa Lucia and Gondola. Both chains. Both good 'za. I also LOVE Vern's. Also a chain.

So, chains don't concern me. I agree their commercials do make the pie look good.

Being a pizza connoisseur I will try them...

Santa lucia and Goldola are chains but they're local chains. I meant more like national or multi national chains.

Santa lucia is also one of my favorites. Grumpy Have you tried Dianas gourmet pizza? It's amazing but very pricy.

Haven't tried Diana's. They've won a ton of awards and I've been meaning to. I will. One day...

Yeah it's pretty neat in there. She has won a ton of awards like you said. Some of them like finishing in the top three for best pizza in the world, also top pizza in Canada. She also has a ton of pictures in her restaurant with her and a bunch of celebrities and pretty much all the food network stars.

Definitely worth trying at least once. We don't order from there too often as it's very expensive but when we do we are always very satisfied.

Papa John was an original pizza hut creator. He split with them to make a better pizza. With that said I have tried and it is good. But can winnipeg take on yet another chain?

Heh...if Boston can survive here, with their pricey stuff, anyone can, and besides, they come well announced as everyone knows their name.

Pizza Hut is not so good, IMHO.

I go to Boston Pizza about once a month or so for Pasta Tuesdays. Terrific value and tasty dishes.

After hearing the raves about Diana's we had to try it so we ordered a largest beer-crust pizza with everything on it. It cost $54!!!!

It was average (however too doughy) - and definitely wasn't extraordinary - considering that price.

apparently opening day of Papa John's has been moved to tomorrow or Saturday. Something about training more staff is what I heard

There is already a Round Table Restaurant in Winnipeg. I wonder if two similar names restaurants could co-exist? Me thinks not...

The Round Table would certainly contest that. They wouldn't have to though - the Companies Office (Manitoba business names registry) would not approve it.

I completely forgot about the Roud Table, perhaps because the dining experience is so easily forgettable, in my opinion!

Do you know that Brick's Warehouse spent $1,000,000 in legal fees, while Fred and Cynthia Brick did their own legal fight.

A new President at The Brick warehouse called off the madness, and they both agreed to have a spoiler that each had nothing to do with the other! Settled many years ago.

That was because The Brick Warehouse had a National name registered and the Manitoba registration of "Brick's" was established before the National name.

The bully tactics did not work! Good for Fred and Cynthia. I am glad they did not have to change their name! lol
