Maybe this amount of pay is an indication that the CBCs budget should be slashed?

What does Cherry do for his 8 minute rant once or twice a week?

That's a perfect example of the waste that is the cbc. Don Cherry was old news in the 90's.

You've got to pay the talent what they are worth. But what is Don Cherry worth?

AT least as much as the average hockey player. I would call that $1m/yr. In a private market (Canadian reality minus the CBC) Cherry would attract that. The issue here is that the taxpayers are paying him - and shouldn't be.

I figure that Don Cherry is one of the only things that are good about the CBC.

(I did lose some respect for him when he folded lately.)

The CBC would have survived longer if they didn't F up two things. Letting the Hockey Night in Canada theme song slip out of their control and their refusal to respect Freedom of Info/Access. I mean really - just who the hell to these bureaucrats think they are? Most that I know are thirsty for their blood/extinction.

The CBC is worse than harper's Conservatives.

I think that they believe what they pay their staff, what they spend on parties and travel is no one's business!

Open books leads to fewer abuses of power!

A short time ago MP's in great Britain were resigning and others paying back charges . No one checking these expenses is an incredible indictment on a governments stupidity!
